The Community Development support offered by East Riding Voluntary Action Services aims to help meet the needs of community and voluntary groups in the East Riding of Yorkshire by;
Working flexibly with organisations and groups to address the issues they themselves identify.
Supporting ongoing community activities and to encouraging new initiatives to establish and develop, by providing information, guidance and practical help.
Providing a complete package of information and support that will enable groups to establish, grow, and formalise, thereby helping them to develop their activities.
Helping groups develop their skills and knowledge to enable them to achieve their objectives.
Working to address the barriers faced by those living in rural areas and other groups of people who may face difficulties in accessing services or participating in community activities.
Encouraging and celebrating participation in community activities, facilitating the sharing of ideas, experiences and good practice, and encouraging partnership working between groups and across sectors. |

The service is available right across the East Riding of Yorkshire on an outreach basis.
Overview/ summary of community development activities.
- Assisting the development of existing Community/ Voluntary Groups
- Promoting development of new community/ voluntary groups
- Providing or signposting to advice, training, funding support, development support and volunteering support.
- Community Development issues in Ervas Newsletter.
- Organising events – to engage, train and develop voluntary sector
- Promoting & supporting services which build capacity of voluntary & community groups.
- Promoting partnership working between organisations and across sectors
